In this article we will formulate a Dodgers vs Padres prediction for this MLB game on Friday, April 12th at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California. To formulate this prediction, we will examine:

Dodgers Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers are 10-5 this year and they have won three of their last five games. LA is coming off of a series win against the Twins, where they won two out of three games. Prior to that series, the Dodgers lost two out of three against the Cubs and swept the Giants in three games. The LA pitching staff has a 4.20 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and a .219 opponent batting average. The Dodgers offense has scored 81 runs with a .277 batting average and a .354 on base percentage. Mookie Betts is batting .364 with five home runs and 11 RBI’s for the Dodgers. The projected starting pitcher for LA is Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who is 1-1 with a 4.09 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP over 11.0 innings pitched this year.

Dodgers vs Padres Prediction

San Diego comes into this matchup playing pretty inconsistently recently, as they have alternated wins and losses over their last eight games. The Dodgers picked up a nice series win on the road against Minnesota earlier this week and they will return home here. These two teams played in the International series to open the season, with both teams winning one game. LA is starting Yamamoto, who got shelled by San Diego to start the season, but has thrown 10.0 shutout innings since. The Padres are going with Michael King, who is coming off of seven shutout innings against the Giants, but did allow five earned runs over 7.1 innings prior to that. I think Yamamoto is the real deal and I think that first start against San Diego was just a fluke. Take the Dodgers -1.5 here.
