As a starter for Friday, the Red Sox will send out Tanner Houck. So far Houck is 8-10 with a 3.24 ERA in 28 starts. Houck is 23-29 with a 3.61 career ERA in 102 games (69 starts).

Over on the Yankees’ side, they played the Kansas City Royals in their last series. After a similar split in the first pair, on Thursday New York eked out a 4-3 victory. On Thursday in the opener versus the Sox, the Yankees got a walk-off single from Juan Soto. Nestor Cortes went 5.0 innings with one earned run in the start.

NY Yankees vs Boston Red Sox Prediction

I’m leaning toward the Yankees. Schmidt has pitched fairly well over his last three starts, but he’s just 0-2 in that time. In that trio, Schmidt has a combined three earned runs in 14.2 innings. As for Houck, he’s 0-2 in his last trio as well with 10 earned runs in 17.0 total frames.

On Thursday the Yankees spread out their seven hits quite well, but only got RBI from Gleyber Torres and Juan Soto. The pitching staff was great across the board, though. I’d like to see a few more runs from New York Friday but they should be set up well.
