NY Yankees vs Miami Marlins Prediction 4-8-24 Picks

The Miami Marlins and the New York Yankees meet Monday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. Here’s a Marlins vs Yankees prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game. We will examine:

Miami Marlins Betting Preview

The Marlins just finished up a weekend set versus the St. Louis Cardinals. Miami lost the first two games of that series 8-5 and 3-1. In the Sunday finale the Marlins out-hit St. Louis 13-5 and powered out a 10-3 blowout victory. Jazz Chisholm notched a homer with three RBI, as did Nick Gordon. Gordon also had two hits and two runs in the much-needed win.

For the starting pitcher gig in the Monday game, the Marlins will send out Jesus Luzardo. In his first two starts of the year Luzardo is 0-1 with a 4.35 ERA and 13 Ks in 10.1 innings. Luzardo is 23-29 in his career with a 4.19 ERA in 95 games (79 starts). The Marlins will meet the Braves after this series.

New York Yankees Betting Preview

Over on the Yankees’ side, they lost to the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday 3-0 but would come back for a 9-8 win on Saturday. In the game three rubber match New York got five runs in the third inning on the way to an 8-3 victory. Giancarlo Stanton had a grand slam as his only hit, and Anthony Volpe added three hits with two runs.

As starter for the Monday matchup it’ll be the Yankees’ Nestor Cortes. In two starts so far this year Cortes is 0-1 with a 6.30 ERA and seven Ks in 10.0 innings. In his career Cortes is 24-12 with a 3.88 ERA in 106 games (58 starts).

Marlins vs Yankees Prediction

I’ll probably still lean toward the Yankees. Cortes has been okay but not spectacular over his first two starts. He’s coming off his first loss of the year against the Diamondbacks, giving up three earned in 5.0 innings on eight hits and two walks. That said, Cortes shouldn’t have a ton of issues versus the Miami hitters if he’s on point.

On Sunday the Yankees got a great effort from the offense, mostly thanks to the one big inning. The big homer from Stanton certainly helped, but it was a solid game all around for most of the batters. The pen was good too with no earned in 4.2 frames. New York should be fine here if they play to their capabilities.
