Seattle Mariners Betting Preview

Seattle is fresh off a weekend series versus the Milwaukee Brewers. The Mariners won 6-5 in the opener but then fell 5-3 in Saturday’s game. On Sunday Seattle took a blowout loss 12-4. The Mariners fell behind 6-2 by the end of the second inning and 10-2 by the end of the fourth. Dominic Canzone finished with two hits, two RBI and a homer, though.

In the starting pitcher slot for the Monday game the Mariners are sending out Luis Castillo. This year in two starts Castillo is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA and 12 Ks in 10.2 innings. Castillo is 62-66 in his career with a 3.57 ERA in 183 starts total.

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they played the New York Yankees in their last outing. Toronto won 3-0 in the opener then lost 9-8 in the next matchup. On Sunday in the rubber match, the Blue Jays coughed up five runs in the third inning (including a grand slam) during an 8-3 loss. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette and Alejandro Kirk each had one RBI in the defeat.

It’ll be Jose Berrios in the starting pitcher role for the Blue Jays on Monday. Over his first two starts this year Berrios is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA and eight Ks in 12.0 innings. Berrios has a career record of 84-66 with a 4.13 ERA in 214 games (213 starts).

Mariners vs Blue Jays Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Blue Jays here. Berrios has a couple of pretty good starts under his belt so far, going 6.0 innings in each. That makes 12.0 total innings with three earned on 12 hits and four walks. Another one of those would go a long way here.

In the Sunday finale versus New York, the Blue Jays really only had the one bad inning. Toronto didn’t play terribly otherwise, but five team hits probably isn’t going to do it in most games. There were a couple of rough bullpen performances as well, so the Jays have some work to do in order to bounce back in this one. I think they’ll pull it off.
