The Albany Great Danes and the Providence Friars meet in college basketball action from the Amica Mutual Pavilion on Saturday afternoon.

The Albany Great Danes will be out to bounce back from a third straight loss after an 87-73 loss to UMass last time out. Gerald Drumgoole Jr. leads the Great Danes in scoring with 13.9 PPG along with 4.6 RPG while Jonathan Beagle has 10.6 PPG with a team-high 7.7 RPG to lead Albany on the glass while making up the pair of double-digit scorers for Albany this season alongside Drumgoole Jr. Aaron Reddish has 9.5 PPG while Da’kquan Davis has 8.9 PPG with a team-high 2.1 APG this season. As a team, Albany is averaging 68.2 PPG on 42.1% shooting from the field, 35.1% from three and 65.6% from the foul line this season.

The Providence Friars will be out to build on a 99-59 rout of Manhattan last time out. Bryce Hopkins leads the Friars in scoring and rebounding with 15.3 PPG and 8.8 RPG while Ed Croswell has 11.2 PPG with 6.6 RPG and Devin Carter has 11.2 PPG with 4.5 RPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for Providence so far this season. Jared Bynum also has 9.2 PPG with a team-high 5.5 APG to lead the Friars in assists this season. As a team, Providence is averaging 79 PPG on 47.5% shooting from the field, 33.9% from three and 72.6% from the foul line this season.

Albany is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games against a team with a winning home record while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 road games. Providence is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games against a team with a losing road record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games after scoring more than 90 points in their previous game.

I get the case to be made for either side here as Albany finally managed to cover on the road and Providence is the better team, but this Providence team isn’t the same one from last year and they just don’t seem to have the same allure that last year’s team had. That being said, I’m not sure how eager I am to run and back Albany here either. That’s why I’m on the under here. This just feels like a game where Providence hovers around the low- to mid-70s, and Albany is struggling to get to 60, one that flirts with a cover on either side but doesn’t go above 135 so give me the under here.
