The Vanderbilt Commodores meet the Missouri Tigers in week 9 SEC college football action from Vanderbilt Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Missouri Tigers will look to bounce back from a 35-14 loss to Texas A&M in their last game. Connor Bazelak leads the Tigers with 1,920 passing yards with 12 touchdowns and 7 interceptions while Tyler Badie leads Mizzou in rushing with 9 TDs and 735 rushing yards. Tauskie Dove leads the Tigers in receiving with 329 receiving yards while three other Tigers have at least 200 receiving yards and another four Mizzou pass catchers have at least 100 receiving yards this season. On defense, Blaze Alldredge leads the Tigers with 48 total tackles along with 4 sacks while Jaylon Carlies has 3 interceptions and Isaiah McGuire has 3 sacks as well for Missouri this season.
The Vanderbilt Commodores will try to rebound from a 45-6 loss at the hands of Mississippi State last time out. Will Rogers has thrown for 2,546 yards, 18 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on 73.5% passing while Dillon Johnson leads Vandy with 207 rushing yards. Makai Polk leads the ‘Dores in receiving with 58 grabs for 552 yards and 6 touchdowns while Jaden Walley has 338 receiving yards and 4 scores. Four other Commodores have at least 200 receiving yards and another four have at least 100 receiving yards on the year. On defense, Jeff Johnson leads the way with 50 total tackles while Emmanuel Forbes has 3 interceptions and Tyrus Wheat and Randy Charlton each have 3 sacks. Fred Peters also has a pair of interceptions for Vanderbilt this season.
Missouri is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games as a road favorite and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a loss. Vanderbilt is 7-20 ATS in their last 27 home games and 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games as a home underdog while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 conference games.
This game is simply the lesser of two evils. Do you want to take a Missouri team that’s yet to cover this season? Or a Vanderbilt team that’s arguably the worst in the SEC this season? If forced to pick, I’d lay the points with Missouri here. The Tigers at least look competent on the offensive side of the football for the most part, which isn’t something we can say for Vandy in my opinion. Sure, they have wins over UConn and Colorado State, but the Commodores also lost to East Tennessee State and have 6 points or less in three of their four conference games this season. I’ll lay the points with Missouri here.
