The Milwaukee Bucks begin a two-game road trip with a trip to Toronto to play the Raptors for the first time this season.
In their last game, the Bucks lost in heart-breaking fashion, losing 107-105 to the Phoenix Suns on a running bank-shot from point guard Steve Nash with only five second left in the game.
To make it even harder, the Bucks had rallied from a 21-point deficit in the third quarter, and led by four points with 7:32 seconds left in the game.
Drew Gooden remains as the starting center for the Bucks with Bogut injured, playing 28:59 for the Bucks against the Suns on Tuesday. Gooden scored 25 points for the Bucks.
The difference in the game was in the backcourt. Nash and Jared Dudley combined for 37 points, including a combined 5 for 8 from the three-point line. Nash also had 11 assists.
The Bucks starting backcourt combo of Brandon Jennings and Shaun Livingston finished with just 12 points, shooting a combined 5 for 11 from the floor. Livingston actually had a decent game, scoring 9 points and shooting four for six from the floor. Jennings shot only four shots, making only had. He had just three points and had only four assists.
On Monday night, the Raptors lost to the Wizards in Washington, 111-108 in overtime. Toronto had two players score 30 points apiece, and made 13 of 26 from the 3-pointer. Guard Jerryd Bayless and forward Linas Kleiza each had 30. Bayless had a game-high six three’s and Kleiza had four of his own.
However, what kept the Raptors from winning the game were Toronto’s 19 turnovers, leading to 23 fast break points for Washington. Also, the Wizards outscored the Raptors 42-32 in the paint.
The Raptors will not have the same shooting performance against the Bucks. Milwaukee plays much better than the Wizards, who are in the bottom of the NBA for defense.
The Bucks are holding opponents to an average of 95.7 points a game, keeping teams below 45 percent from the field and 34 percent from the three-point line.
The Raptors will not have two players score 30 points apiece against the Bucks, and Jennings will have a much better game, going up against Jerryd Bayless, instead of Nash. If Gooden scored 25 points against the Suns’ Marcin Gortat, he should be able to put up double-digit points on Toronto’s starting center Aaron Gray.
The Favorite is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings and with the Raptors only a two-point underdog, the Bucks are the pick to make. The Bucks are getting almost two-thirds of the picks, and in their last eight wins against the Raptors, the Bucks have won by an average of 9.8 points.
The Bucks are 5-0 ATS in their last five Wednesday games, 4-1 ATS in their last five road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage of less than .400, and are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games. Milwaukee is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings, and is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Toronto.
