The Winnipeg Jets look to exact some revenge in Chicago on Wednesday night as they were trounced by a 5-1 score when these teams meet in Winnipeg last week while the Blackhawks are coming off an overtime loss and will look to get back in the win column.

The Jets finally ended their losing ways as they upended the Detroit Red Wings at the MTS Centre in their last outing that snapped a four game slide and they’ll look to inch closer to the .500 mark with another win here at the United Centre. Winnipeg had a great opportunity to take two points from the Hawks the last time these teams meet but the Hawks were of a different breed that night as they decimated the Jets in embarrassing fashion. Dustin Byfuglien returns to Chicago and while he was embraced as a Blackhawk and didn’t leave on bad terms I’m sure he will hear the brunt of it from the United Centre crowd which should be revved up for this one. Ondrej Pavelec gets the call here for the Jets as he matches up against Corey Crawford.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Winnipeg Jets - 11/6/13

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

The Blackhawks have been impressive once again this season posting a 9-2-4 record through their first 15 contests putting them just two points behind the Avalanche for top spot in the Central division. Chicago hasn’t missed a beat after winning the Stanley Cup in last year’s shortened season and with the bulk of their core returning this year including Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa, and Patrick Sharp up front the Hawks are a legitimate threat to win back to back titles. Crawford has been brilliant between the pipes as he vies for the starter’s role for Team Canada during the Olympics and if he continues to play like he is there will definitely be some serious consideration for the Quebec native. While Winnipeg ended their slide at home against Detroit I just don’t think they’re the same team on the road and while there is nice value on the underachieving Jets I think the better play here is siding with the Hawks in regulation.

Chicago Blackhawks -1.5
