The Avalanche look for yet another road victory as they head to Minnesota to take on the Wild who have been very impressive this season at home.

Colorado got off to a ridiculous start to the season as they were the last team to lose a contest launching them to a 17-6 mark on the year but they have dropped five of their last 10 and have slipped into third place in the Central behind Chicago and St. Louis. The Avs are a very solid team that just had an off year last year and they reaped the benefits by acquiring Nathan MacKinnon in the draft who wil certainly be a cornerstone with the Avs for many years to come. Colorado has run into some off ice trouble as goaltender Semyon Varlamov faces some legal trouble but they do have reliable veteran and former Conn Smythe trophy winner JS Giguere as a back up and he will get the call in this one. Colorado will have to be on point offensively as the Wild have one of the stingiest defensive units in the league and will need to solve Nik Backstrom if they want to come away with two points.

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

The Wild are another team who underachieved last year but are more than making up for it this season as they sit with a 15-7-4 mark on the year putting them in a tie with the Avs in the Central division. Minnesota sits with an impressive 10-2-2 mark at the Xcel Energy Center this season and while the Avalanche are very strong on the road you have to think this one would favour the home team. However, Colorado is starting Giguere who is having a spectacular season under Patrick Roy’s regime and the Wild are starting Backstrom who to me should be the full time backup behind Josh Harding. Add in the fact that Zach Parise is out and I think this game favours the road team at a very generous price.

Colorado Avalanche +119
