For the fifth and final time this season, the Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators will take to the ice to Saturday afternoon. The Predators lead the season series three games to one.
The Jets have won four of their last seven games and are coming off an overtime win on Wednesday against the Phoenix Coyotes. The goaltending has been incredible as of late. Despite the three losses resulting in four goals apiece, they’ve only allowed a combined eight goals in their last five wins. Goaltender Al Montoya has allowed two goals or less in eight of his last 11 games. The offense, however, has done just enough to get by, as seven of their last eight wins were decided by just one goal. The Jets are 14-15-1-1 on the road this season.

The Predators are coming off of a 3-2 Thursday win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, but have still lost five of their last eight games. Consistency has been a major issue for this team all year, especially at goaltending, as goalie Carter Hutton has allowed a combined 12 goals in his last four starts. Offensively, they’ve scored a combined 17 goals in their last six starts. They are 15-12-1-3 on their home ice this season.
Although the Jets have been playing better hockey as of late, these teams are just about even and at the bottom of the barrel in the Central Division. It’s tough to pick a side, which is why I’m giving my free pick on the total.
The over seems like the play here with both teams being so inconsistent. The over has hit in five of the last eight games for Nashville, is 5-1-1 in Winnipeg’s last seven road games against teams with a losing home record and is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams.
Save yourself the trouble in picking a side and just go with the over.
