The Tampa Bay Lightning and Calgary Flames will play Thursday for the second and final time this season. When these teams met back in early January, the Lightning won 2-0.
Although the Flames are eliminated from playoff contention and have lost three of their last four, they have been playing better hockey lately and have split their last eight contests. Of course, goaltender Karri Ramo hasn’t exactly helped the Flames during this stretch, as the young goalie has allowed three or more goals in four straight starts. Offensively, the Flames have scored just one power play goal in their last six games, but have scored more goals than their 2.5 season average in five of their last eight games. The Calgary Flames are 13-20-1-3 on the road this season.

The Lightning continue to fight for better playoff position with the season coming to an end, as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games. Unlike the Flames, the Lightning have been feasting on the power play, scoring 12 power play goals in their last nine games. Steven Stamoks has scored three goals in his last five games. Defensively, goalie Ben Bishop got back on track in the 3-1 Tuesday win over Montreal, as he allowed just one goal on 26 shots. The Tampa Bay Lightning are 22-8-1-5 at home.
The Flames are 16-40 in their last 56 road games and 8-20 in their last 28 vs. Atlantic. The Lightning are 5-1 in their last 6 home games and 5-2 in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest. The Flames are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings vs. the Lightning.
Since there's not a ton of value in backing Tampa Bay, I'm going to side with the over in this matchup. The over is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings in Tampa Bay and 5-1 in Lightning last 6 games following a win.
Scoring six goals shouldn't be a problem in this matchup.
