The Kings look to complete a ridiculous come back and set up a second round encounter with the Anaheim Ducks while the Sharks look to avoid an epic collapse with game seven going on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Kings were a trendy pick to “upset” the Sharks in the first round and for good reason as they’re a very solid hockey team and always play the Sharks close but after the series started everyone started to panic. The Sharks raced out to a commanding 3-0 series lead with the first two games being an absolute gongshow for the Kings and goaltender Jonathan Quick and the skeptics of the Kings were grinning from ear to ear with the resounding echo of this being San Jose’s year growing to deafening levels. Well, after six games we are all tied up and are now heading back to San Jose for a pivotal game seven show down between two teams who hate each other and with all the momentum in favour of the visitors who would love to put an exclamation mark on this series with a blow out win. The Kings are very deep and got better at the trade deadline by acquiring Marian Gaborik who is one of the best pure goal scorers in the league and if the Kings can pull off the unthinkable here and advance to the second round they will be incredibly tough to stop.

San Jose Sharks vs. Los Angeles Kings - 4/30/14

USA TODAY Sports

The Sharks are fuming at the moment now only because they blew a 3-0 series lead but because of how game six ended as the Kings got the go ahead goal with under three minutes remaining in the third period after what looked like a push into the net by Justin Williams on Alex Stalock. Nonetheless, the goal stood and subsequently the Kings buried two empty net marker to seal the victory setting up tonight’s deciding game. There is no question that the Sharks are on their heels and that head coach Todd MacLellan is coaching for his job tonight and despite all the momentum being with the Kings at the moment the Sharks are a very confident team that can compete with anybody on any night of the week. It is hard to imagine a team of San Jose’s caliber losing four straight games, but then again the same was said about the Kings and they put an end to that by winning the last three. Either way this is going to be a very intense and exciting contest but the difference for me is in the crease as Jonathan Quick has regained his confidence and with the uncertainty surrounding who will start for the Sharks is not a good sign at all. I am taking LA like I said at the beginning of the series, to win tonight in seven games.
