The Bruins look to exact some revenge from last year’s postseason as they head into Montreal for their first matchup with the Canadiens this season.
The Boston Bruins fell short of reaching the Stanley Cup Final last season and didn’t even make it to the Conference finals after finishing atop the East thanks to the Montreal Canadiens who went into Boston and stole game seven at the TD Garden. The B’s who were certainly rattled by the loss will surely have those feelings in mind heading into Thursday night’s tilt and they would love nothing more than to send the raucous Montreal crowd home without any points to speak of. Boston has stumbled out of the gates a bit to start the season as they dropped three in a row after winning their season opener and at the time of writing this they are in a 1-1 tie with the Detroit Red Wings at the Joe. The Bruins though are known to get up for big games and this to me is their first marquee game of the season and while they are likely going with Svedberg in goal instead of Rask you can bet the Bruins will be giving maximal effort here from the crease out.

The Canadiens started the season 3-0 before dropping their first game of the season in their last contest but they can get back in the win column in a big way on Thursday night. Montreal is always a tough out on home ice and they know they’ll have to play their absolute best if they want to contain the Bruins but keeping emotions in check against a hated rival isn’t always the easiest thing to do. Montreal is a talented side that has the ability to get back to the Eastern Conference final and perhaps even make the push into the Cup Finals with Carey Price in goal. I wish this game didn’t occur a night after the Bruins played in Detroit as regardless of outcome there I think they will get a little gassed here making me less inclined to take a flier on them as an underdog. However, with Price in goal likely going up against Boston’s backup I have to side with Montreal who get an emotional win against the B’s.
