Oakland Athletics Betting Preview

Early this week, the A’s took on the San Diego Padres. Oakland had a tough time in that set, getting swept with losses 6-1, 4-3 and 5-4. After a 6-2 loss to the Twins in the Thursday opener, on Friday Oakland took a tough 6-5 loss in 10 frames. Mitch Spence went 5.2 innings in the start with four earned on nine hits and a walk.

As starter for Saturday’s game, the A’s are sending out Joey Estes. This year in six starts Estes is 2-2 with a 4.78 ERA and 28 Ks in 32.0 innings. Estes is 2-3 with a 5.36 ERA in eight career starts.

In the Wednesday rubber match the Twins took a blowout victory 17-9. On Friday Minnesota had 10 hits in the tense win. Starter Simeon Woods Richardson had an interesting 4.0 innings with four hits, four earned, four walks and four strikeouts.

It’ll be Bailey Ober in the starter role for the Twins on Saturday. So far this year Ober is 5-4 with a 5.13 ERA in 13 starts. Ober has 65 strikeouts over 66.2 innings. In his career Ober is 18-16 with a 3.91 ERA in 70 starts.

Minnesota Twins vs Oakland Athletics Prediction

I’ll probably try the A’s here. Estes does need a bit of a bounce-back after three earned on eight hits and two walks in 5.0 innings during a loss to the Padres his last time out, though. Prior to that Estes had just one earned in 11.1 innings over two starts. As for Ober, he’s given up 13 earned in 14.2 innings over his last three starts, going 0-2 in that time.

On Friday the A’s ended up blowing a 4-0 first inning lead and could only find five hits. I like Oakland to strike back on Saturday but I’m staying away.
