The New York Mets and Atlanta Braves will play their rubber game on Thursday night. The Braves tied the series with a 4-3 win on Wednesday.
With the loss, the Mets have still won three of their last five games and are getting the job done with terrific pitching, allowing three or less runs in four of their last five games. Offensively, Juan Lagares leads the way with nine hits and five RBI. Jenrry Mejia hopes to keep the solid pitching up for the Mets, as he allowed just one run and four hits in his first start, picking up the win over the Cincinnati Reds. Mejia is just 1-6 in his career on the road with a 4.71 ERA, and he’s 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA in one career start against the Braves.
The Braves snapped a two-game losing streak with the win and did so with an offense that kind of woke up. The Braves scored a combined one run in their last two losses, but pounded out nine hits and three runs in the fifth inning to beat the Mets. On Thursday, David Hale will get the start for the Braves. Hale didn’t allow a run and struck out four in five innings of work in his first start against the Washington Nationals. Like Mejia, Hale is also a young pitcher who has only started three career games. This will be the first time Hale has faced the Mets.
The Mets are 1-6 in Mejia's last 7 road starts and 3-7 in Mejia's last 10 starts as an underdog. The Braves are 1-4 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series and 46-21 in their last 67 games as a home favorite.
This game features two young pitchers who don’t have much starting experience under their belts. In order words, just about anything can happen. With that said, I like the Braves at home. Atlanta finally showed some signs of life offensively, and Hale looked great in his first start.
Give me the Braves for the decent price.
