In this article we will formulate a Miami Marlins vs Washington Nationals prediction for this MLB game on Friday, April 26th at loanDepot park in Miami, Florida. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game one in this series.

Miami Looks for Momentum

The Miami Marlins are 6-20 this year and they have lost six of their last eight games. Miami is coming off of a series loss to the Braves, where they lost all three games by scores of 4-3, 5-0, and 3-0. Prior to that series, the Marlins split a four game set with the Cubs and lost two out of three to the Giants. Miami has started the season playing very poorly and they are only 2-11 at home this year.

The Miami pitching staff has a 4.66 ERA, a 1.51 WHIP, and a .263 opponent batting average. The Marlins offense has scored 88 runs with a .216 batting average and a .273 on base percentage. Bryan De La Cruz is batting .262 with five home runs and 14 RBI’s for the Marlins this year. Miami has really struggled with both their hitting and pitching, but they have scored three runs or fewer in eight of their last ten games.

Washington Trying to Restart the Offense

The Washington Nationals are 10-14 this year and they have lost four of their last six games. Washington is coming off of a series loss to the Dodgers, where they lost all three games by scores of 2-1, 11-2, and 4-1. Prior to being swept, the Nationals won two out of three at home against Houston and two out of three against the Dodgers on the road. Washington may be four games below the .500 mark, but they have shown the ability to win series against quality opponents.

The Washington pitching staff has a 4.35 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP, and a .279 opponent batting average. The Nationals offense has scored 84 runs with a .231 batting average and a .309 on base percentage. CJ Abrams is batting .302 with six home runs and 12 RBI’s for the Nats this year. Washington’s offense has been inconsistent at best so far this year, but they only scored a total of four runs in three games against the Dodgers at home.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Miami is Jesus Luzardo, who is 0-2 with a 6.58 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP over 26.0 innings pitched this year. Luzardo pitched better in his last start against the Cubs, but he did allow 12 earned runs and 15 hits over 9.2 innings in the previous two starts against Atlanta and the Yankees. The projected starting pitcher for Washington is Trevor Williams, who is 2-0 with a 2.91 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP over 21.2 innings pitched this season. Williams has allowed a total of seven earned runs and 15 hits over 21.2 innings in four starts this year. Williams has been surprisingly solid for Washington this year, but I think he is due for a bad outing.

Miami Marlins vs Washington Nationals Prediction

Miami comes into this game as a pretty big favorite, which is surprising given the fact that they only have six wins this year. The Marlins will have Luzardo on the mound, but he has had some trouble this season. Neither team has a very strong offensive attack early on in this season, but I don’t think I can pass up the Nationals here. Do I think Williams has overachieved? Yes. Do I think he can have more success against a bad Miami lineup? Also yes. My Miami Marlins vs Washington Nationals Prediction for this game is a Nationals road win.
