The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors collide at the Chase Center on Sunday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in poor form as they’ve lost four of their last six games and they will be hoping to bounce back after coming up short against the Hornets in a 121-113 loss on Friday. Anthony Edwards led the team with 29 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Rudy Gobert added 17 points with 10 rebounds and three blocks on seven of nine shooting while Naz Reid chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 49 percent from the field and 11 of 33 from the 3-point line, but they committed turnovers early and were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing the Hornets to pour in 72 points in the first half.
Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games overall, but they will be eager to build some momentum after routing the Rockets in a 116-101 win on Friday. Klay Thompson drained 12 3-pointers to lead the team with 42 points on 12 of 19 shooting, Donte DiVicenzo and Jordan Poole each scored 15 points while Patrick Baldwin Jr chipped in with 11 points off the bench. As a team, the Warriors shot 47 percent from the field and a sizzling 26 of 54 from the 3-point line as they took control of the contest with a 40-point explosion in the second quarter to take the double-digit lead, before they finished with a flurry in the fourth quarter to earn the much-needed victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a loss and 21-8 ATS in their last 29 Sunday games. The Warriors are 30-14-1 ATS in their last 45 home games and 1-5-2 ATS in their last eight games following a win of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the over is 8-1 in the last nine meetings overall and the Timberwolves are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings in Golden State.
The Timberwolves could be shorthanded again as Taurean Prince and Jaylen Nowell are both questionable, while the Warriors are still missing Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins, while Draymond Green is questionable. The Timberwolves are meeting the Warriors at an opportune time as the Warriors could be severely shorthanded here, but they’ve been poor lately and they didn’t look good in their loss to the lottery-bound Hornets on Friday. The Warriors have been in a mini slump lately, but they were able to get the much-needed win over the Rockets thanks to a big game from Thompson. The Timberwolves are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings in Golden State and the Warriors are 30-14-1 ATS in their last 45 home games overall, so I’ll lean towards the Warriors in this spot.
