The Detroit Red Wings and Minnesota Wild will finish up a weekend home-and-home matchup on Sunday. These teams played on Saturday, and the Red Wings won, 3-2.
The Wild have lost seven of their last nine games, as the struggles continue to pile up on the offensive end. The Wild have scored two or less goals in four of their last six games, which hasn’t helped when nine of their last 10 losses have been decided by one goal. Defensively, goalie IIya Bryzgalov has allowed six goals in his three starts since being acquired by Edmonton. The Minnesota Wild are 13-16-3-3 on the road this season.

Despite a ton of injuries, the Detroit Red Wings could tie a season high fourth straight win with a victory. There’s a lot of moving parts, but the young guys are stepping up for Detroit, and the Red Wings are as hot as they’ve been all season. One of the reasons for the Red Wings success is goalie Jimmy Howard, who has allowed two or less goals in three of his last five starts. Offensively, Gustav Nyquist has scored four goals in his last three games. The Red Wings are 15-11-4-5 on their home ice this season.
The Wild are 5-2 in their last 7 vs. a team with a losing record and 6-2 in their last 8 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation. The Red Wings are 2-8 in their last 10 vs. Central and 18-7 in their last 25 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation. The Wild are 6-16-1 in the last 23 meetings in Detroit.
I like the way Detroit has been playing lately and the energy they’re playing with. The Wild have been on a downward spiral and traveling on the road with no days off is always tough.
Give me the Red Wings at the small price.
