The New York Knicks and the New Orleans Pelicans duke it out at the Smoothie King Center on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have lost six of their past 10 games, but they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after routing the shorthanded Lakers in a 111-96 home win on Monday. Julius Randle led the way with 34 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Elfrid Payton added 20 points on nine of 12 shooting while Derrick Rose chipped in with 14 points off the bench. As a team, the Knicks shot 47 percent from the field and a miserly five of 27 from the 3-point line, but this win was about their defense as they held the Lakers to just 16 points in the third quarter to open up a double-digit lead before finishing with a flurry in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans are also gunning for a fourth straight win after taking down the Kings in a 117-110 home win on Monday. Brandon Ingram led the team with 34 points, six rebounds and seven assists, Zion Williamson added 30 points on 13 of 21 shooting while Eric Bledsoe chipped in with 13 points and five assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot 54 percent from the field and six of 19 from the 3-point line as they poured in 68 points in the first half to lead by as many as 26 points, before holding on for the narrow win as the Kings cut the margin to just five points with 2:28 remaining.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games, 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a losing record and 21-8-1 ATS in their last 30 games overall. The Pelicans are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games as a favorite and 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the under is 13-5 in the last 18 meetings overall and the Knicks are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in New Orleans.
The Knicks have been building nicely with three wins on the trot and they would’ve taken so much confidence from their dominant win over the Lakers on Monday. The Pelicans have been heating up with Ingram and Williamson catching fire, so we could be in for a close one. The Knicks are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in New Orleans and I think that trend continues here as they escape with the narrow win.
