Miami Open: Ashleigh Barty vs. Bianca Andreescu 4/3/21 Tennis Prediction

Ashleigh Barty (1) will face Bianca Andreescu (8) in the Final of the 2021 Miami Open. The match is scheduled to be played at 1:00pm EST. 

Both ladies have been in fine form so far here at the 2021 Miami Open and are equally deserving of the title. Will it be the top ranked Barty winning her second title of the year? Or can Bianca Andreescu win her first since returning from injury?

Ashleigh Barty is the number one player in the WTA world rankings and has been in impressive form so far here at the 2021 Miami Open. She has largely been untested and has sailed through the draw with relative ease. Her Semi-Final win over Elina Svitolina was particularly impressive, defeating her in-form opponent in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. She has a unique game that makes things very uncomfortable for her opponents, changing the pace up very well and using her slice backhand effectively. This tactic will be particularly important against a power-hitter like Bianca Andreescu who can be very dangerous when she gets in a rhythm. Barty enters this match as the slight favorite to defend her title here in Miami. 

Bianca Andreescu is seeded #8 here at the 2021 Miami Open, and also has been outstanding here, showing remarkable focus fighting spirit to win three setters against Garbine Muguruza early on in the tournament, and Maria Sakkari in the Semi-Finals. She has a huge game with booming groundstrokes, and can be a handful on this type of surface. While she enters this Final as the underdog, she is very capable of winning here against Ashleigh Barty. She has a stronger serve and groundstrokes, but it remains to be seen how she will deal with Barty’s craftiness. Questions allso remain about her fitness, since she is coming off a long layoff and has a lot of tennis under her belt this week, fatigue may be a factor. 

This is sure to be a very exciting Final, with both players in red-hot form. I am going to give the edge to Ashleigh Barty here. She has looked very comfortable so far here at the 2021 Miami Open, and Andreescu has played multiple three set matches. I don’t expect that Andreescu will have enough left in the tank to win here, and Ashleigh Barty will get a tough victory here, defending her Miami Open title.
