Will Marta Kostyuk come out here and be able to beat a former Grand Slam title winner who has won here in Paris, or will Garbine Muguruza be able to get a solid win under her belt to best prepare her for a very tough side of the draw which she has unfortunately been put in?

Marta Kostyuk is still a young player with a lot to prove on the WTA Tour. Marta is ranked in the top 100, but she is not really known and mainly plays in the smaller tournaments and grand slams, perhaps some bigger tournaments if she is able to qualify. Marta will have to be at her absolute best here if she wants to get the win over Garbine Muguruza here, but that is going to be a huge task for the youngster.

Garbine Muguruza has played some great tennis in 2020 and 2021, sometimes worthy of a Grand Slam title. However, the Spaniard has fallen short a few times of reaching her third grand slam title. Garbine is so tough to beat on her day, and I am very sure that if she is at her best she can have an amazing tournament here in Paris. Garbine has won here before, so she knows what it takes. Can Muguruza put on a dominant performance right from the start to get the momentum going?

This is going to be the 1^st meeting between both players, and unfortunately for the young and future star of Marta, she will stand no chance against Garbine who has so much experience not only here at the French Open, but at all tournaments in general. Garbine will be determined to get a dominant performance in straight away here because it will allow her to gain confidence and momentum, and she will not let someone like Marta to stand in her goals as she is one of the toughest fighters there are in the WTA Tour over the last 6 years.
