The Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Indians meet Tuesday in MLB action from Progressive Field.
This will be the third installment in a four-game set between these teams this week. In the Monday doubleheader, the White Sox took game one by two runs. In game two the Indians returned the favor to even it up. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.
Chicago managed a sweep of the Orioles over the weekend, taking wins in all four games. In the Monday doubleheader versus Cleveland, the Sox got an 8-6 win in game one, but dropped the second matchup 3-1.
For the starter role in the Tuesday game, the Sox are going with Dylan Cease. Over his 51.1 innings of work this year, Cease has 39 hits, 18 runs (17 earned), four homers allowed, 26 walks, 66 strikeouts and a 2.98 ERA.
Over on the Indians’ side, they managed just one win in three games versus the Blue Jays this past weekend. In the Monday games, Cleveland took a tough loss in the first matchup but bounced back with seven team hits in game two. Cal Quantrill went 3.2 innings with one earned on four hits in that one.
For the Tuesday starting pitcher role, the Indians are going with Shane Bieber. So far this season Shane Bieber has 72.0 innings with 60 hits, 26 runs (25 earned), nine homers allowed, 27 walks, 110 Ks and a 3.13 ERA.
The White Sox are 36-17 in their last 53 versus the American League Central and 7-3 in their last 10 road games with the total set at 6.5 or lower. The under is 6-0 in Chicago’s last six in game three of a series and 9-2 in their last 11 overall.
Meanwhile, the Indians are 16-5 in their last 21 Tuesday games and 9-3 in their last 12 versus the AL Central. Cleveland is 7-16 in their last 23 with the total at 6.5 or lower and the over is 12-4-2 in their last 18 versus the AL Central.
PICK: I’m going to stick with the Sox. Cease had a bad outing versus the Yankees on May 22 with five earned in 4.1 innings, but he did great his last time up versus Baltimore. In that one Cease posted 10 strikeouts with just one earned (a homer) on four hits in 6.0 innings. I like Cease to keep it going and notch another good start here to put Chicago in a nice spot.
