He turned it around nicely here in Metz, with a big upset win over sixth seeded Ugo Humbert, where he impressively came back from a set down, dispelling all notions that his injuries were back. He controlled the match from the baseline and never allowed his opponent to settle in the third set, using all of his experience and tactical superiority to get he job done. He is the favorite here against Vasek Pospisil but is in for a tough day at the office against a highly experienced opponent.

Vasek Pospisil is currently ranked 66 in the world and is unseeded here at the 2021 Metz Open. Like his opponent Andy Murray, he has not been at his best lately and has seen his ranking suffer terribly. He will be eager to have a solid week here to re-establish himself on the ATP Tour, and started well here, defeating Gergoire Barrere in straight sets in the First Round.
