The Los Angeles Angels and the Seattle Mariners meet Sunday in MLB action from T-Mobile Park. This will be the final installment in a three-game series and the final game of the regular season. The Angels eked out a win in the Friday opener, then on Saturday Seattle struck back with a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Los Angeles scored both their runs in the third inning on Friday, hanging on for a 2-1 win. In the Saturday game the Angels had a brief lead in the eighth inning but ultimately fell 6-4. Starter Jhonathan Diaz put up 4.1 innings with three earned on six hits and two walks.

For the starter in the Sunday finale the Angels will send out Reid Detmers. In limited action over 19.0 innings this year Detmers has 23 hits, 15 earned, five homers, nine walks, 17 Ks and a 7.11 ERA.

Over on the Mariners’ side, they had just five hits in the loss Friday and couldn’t score after the second inning. On Saturday, Seattle posted three runs in the bottom of the eighth on the way to the victory. Chris Flexen went 5.1 innings in the start with one earned on six hits and a walk.

Starting pitcher for Sunday’s game will be Seattle’s Tyler Anderson. In 103.1 innings so far Anderson has 99 hits, 52 runs (50 earned), 16 homers allowed, 25 walks, 86 Ks and a 4.35 ERA.

The Angels are 4-1 in their last five as an underdog and 4-11 in their last 15 overall. LA is also 0-5 in their last five Sunday games.

Meanwhile, the Mariners are 11-2 in their last 13 overall and 5-1 in their last six Sunday games. Seattle is 4-1 in their last five home games as well.

PICK: I’m probably going to try Seattle but staying away. Anderson had an ugly outing last time he faced the Angels, giving up nine earned on nine hits and a walk in just 2.0 innings. He did bounce back with one earned in 4.0 innings his last time up, though. As for Detmers, he hasn’t pitched since August so he probably won’t be out there for very long. This should be an interesting starter matchup but I like the Mariners on the win a little better if Anderson can hold it together.
