The Vancouver Canucks and the Seattle Kraken meet in NHL action from Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday night.

The Vancouver Canucks will be out to add to their 4-1 win over the winless Chicago Blackhawks in their last game. Jason Dickinson opened the scoring for the Canucks 6:36 into the game but the lead lasted all of 1:50 before Chicago tied it up at one. The 1-1 score held through the rest of the first and the early part of the second before Tanner Pearson restored Vancouver’s lead just before the midway point of the 2nd. Brock Boeser gave the Canucks an insurance marker and the 3-1 score held up for most of the 3rd but Conor Garland would add a 4th on an empty net for good measure and to secure the win for the Canucks. Thatcher Demko got the win to improve to 2-1-1 on the year after stopping 29 of 30 shots faced in the winning effort.

The Seattle Kraken will be looking to rebound from a 4-2 loss at the hands of the New Jersey Devils last time out. New Jersey broke open the game in the first with a pair of goals 1:40 apart and the 2-0 score held into the first intermission and for the first half of the second period before Rileu Sheahan got Seattle on the board just after the ten minute mark of the 2nd. New Jersey responded less than five minutes later to restore the two-goal cushion but Jared McCann would make things interesting with just over five minutes to go, cutting the deficit to 3-2. Despite Seattle outshooting New Jersey 9-4 in the 3rd period, the Kraken wouldn’t find the equalizer as the Devils potted an empty net goal to send the Kraken back empty-handed. Joey Daccord took the loss, allowing 3 goals on 32 shots faced in the losing effort.

Vancouver is 6-14 in their last 20 games overall and 0-7 in their last 7 games following a win while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 division games. Seattle is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games overall.

In most cases you could try making a case for the road team with a coin flip line but Seattle got the short end of the stick with the road trip to start the year, almost like it was initiation from the NHL. But either way, the Kraken have been waiting for this and you have to think that environment at home is going to be absolutely electric. Vancouver’s a solid team, but there’s no stepping in front of the Seattle debut angle. Give me the Kraken here.
