The Indiana Pacers and the Portland Trailblazers collide at the Moda Center on Friday night.
The Indiana Pacers have struggled to get going this season as they’ve lost six of their first nine overall, but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Knicks in a 111-98 home win on Wednesday. Myles Turner led the team with 25 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks, Caris LeVert added 21 points while Malcolm Brogdon chipped in with 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 46 percent from the field and 16 of 41 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 36 points in the first quarter to open an early 15-point lead, before pouring in 31 points in the fourth quarter to finish with a flurry.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have been in a rut lately as they will be hoping to put an end to a three-game skid after falling just short to the Cavaliers in a 107-104 road loss on Wednesday. Damian Lillard led the team with 26 points and eight assists on 10 of 27 shooting, Norman Powell added 23 points, CJ McCollum added 21 points with six assists while Anfernee Simons chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Trailblazers shot just 44 percent from the field and 13 of 37 from the 3-point line as they fell behind at halftime after allowing 37 points in the second quarter and it cost them in the end as they cut the deficit to just one point midway through the fourth quarter before coming up just short as they scored just three points in the final 3:03.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games as an underdog and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win. The Trailblazers are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall, the Pacers are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Portland and the Pacers are 3-14 ATS in the last 17 meetings overall.
The Pacers are finally starting to build some momentum and they just look so much better with the underrated Malcolm Brogdon back in the lineup. The Trailblazers have still yet to hit their stride this season and their confidence took another hit after they fell just short to the Cavaliers in their last outing. The Pacers looked great in their dominant win over the Knicks and I think they can carry that momentum in this one while the Trailblazers are still struggling.
