Southeast Missouri State started the year on a decent clip at 5-4, losing to Youngstown State, Arkansas State, Portland and Montana State. After a five-game losing streak the Redhawks got a win over Austin Peay before a loss to Belmont.

Matched up against Belmont on Thursday, the Redhawks were blown out 57-33 in the first half and 45-29 in the second for a 102-62 loss. Eric Reed was the team’s high scorer with 22 points, three rebounds and 6-of-7 from 3-point range.

Over on the Tennessee State side, they went just 1-6 over their first seven games with a lone victory versus Fisk. The Tigers are on a much better 4-2 run since then, taking losses to South Carolina State and TN-Martin.

In the Skyhawks matchup on Thursday, Tennessee State managed 34 points in the first half on the way to a 94-78 defeat. Carlos Marshall led the way on 25 points, and Jalen Dupree added 15 points with six boards.

The Tigers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 16-35-1 ATS in their last 52 Saturday games. Tennessee State is 6-13 ATS in their last 19 after an ATS loss.

Meanwhile, the Redhawks are 1-8 ATS in their last nine road games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 after a straight-up loss. SEMO is 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss.

PICK: I’m probably trying Southeast Missouri State here. The Redhawks struggled against a very good Belmont team in their last outing, shooting just 35.5 percent from the field and getting out-rebounded 41-29. It wasn’t SEMO’s best effort, but the good news is that they’ve hit 68 or more points in four of their last five games. There should be some solid scoring opportunities for the Redhawks in this one, and I think they’ll get there on a cover/win.
