The Georgia State Panthers lost their 5th straight game and dropped to 6-9 on the season after being defeated by the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, 72-68 (OT), this past Saturday. Georgia State fought back from a 57-51 deficit with just 4:54 left in regulation to force OT, however, the Panthers could not fight back after the Chanticleers took a 70-67 lead with 1:01 left in OT. Georgia State shot 31.7% from the field & 10.7% from beyond the arc while Coastal Carolina shot 40.3% from the field & 45.5% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Panthers was Eliel Nsoseme who had a double-double with 19 points, 15 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks, & 1 steal.

Defensively, Georgia State is allowing their opponents to average 68.0 ppg on 42.8% shooting from the field. The Panthers have a rebound margin of 0.2 and a turnover margin of 5.5.

The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns snapped a 3-game losing streak and improved to 9-8 on the season after defeating the Troy Trojans, 69-59, this past Saturday. Louisiana led by a 30-28 margin at halftime and the Ragin’ Cajuns pulled away late after closing out the final 3:47 of regulation on a 14-4 run. Georgia State has been led by their defense which ranks 155th in scoring defense & 6th in turnover margin, however, the offense has struggled as the Panthers come into this game ranked just 311th in FG%. Louisiana has been decent on both ends of the court and come into this game ranked 188th in scoring offense, 187th in scoring defense, & 82nd in rebound margin.

Georgia State has really struggled as of late, however, the Panthers have been competitive recently against Appalachian State & Coastal Carolina and have been solid on the defensive end of the court. Louisiana is 6-2 at home this season, however, this is a team that can struggle on the offensive and as I think Georgia State keeps this one competitive, I’m taking Georgia State and the points. Good Luck!
