UConn posted a 10-4 run over their first 14 games this year. The losses in that stretch were to Michigan State, West Virginia, Providence and Seton Hall. Since then it’s been a win streak versus St. John’s, Butler (twice) and Georgetown.
Matched up against Georgetown on Tuesday, the Huskies posted a 52-40 run in the first half and a 44-33 stretch from there in a 96-73 blowout win. Leading the scoring for UConn was Adama Sanogo with 19 points, eight rebounds and two steals.
Over on the DePaul side, they managed nine wins in their first 10 games this year—the only loss was to Loyola Chicago. The Demons have been on a 1-8 skid since then. They’ve lost to Xavier, Creighton and Villanova in their last three outings.
On Tuesday versus Villanova, the Demons posted just 22 points in the first half and 21 more in the second during a rough 67-43 loss. Leading the team in scoring was Javan Johnson with 16 points and five rebounds. Jalen Terry chipped in 10 points as well.
The Demons are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 at home and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 overall. DePaul is 0-4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Huskies are 12-4-1 ATS in their last 17 road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS win. UConn is 4-0 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win.
PICK: I’m going to stay with UConn here. The Huskies are rolling over their last four games. They’ve hit 75 or more points in each of those, and held opponents to fewer than 60 points in two of them (Butler both times). As for DePaul, they’ve had it rough lately and the matchups aren’t going to get any easier for a while. The Demons have been below 69 points in each of their last three, and below 48 in two of those. I like UConn to stretch their legs and cover here; I don’t think the Demons have the gas to keep up.
