The Temple Owls and the East Carolina Pirates meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Minges Coliseum. Temple is sitting at 11-7 on the year and coming off a loss to SMU over the weekend. Temple posted a 6-5 start through their first 11 games. They’ve had to take some time off for postponements since then, but the Owls have been able to maintain a 5-2 record over the last seven. The only losses in that stretch have been to Houston and SMU.
In Saturday’s game versus SMU, the Owls were outscored 31-28 in the first half and 38-33 in the second on the way to a 69-61 loss. Leading the scoring was Damian Dunn with 16 points and two boards. Jeremiah Williams added 13 points as well.
Over on the East Carolina side, they put up a 10-3 mark in their first 13 games this year but have struggled since then. It’s been a 1-6 run in the last seven outings with losses to Temple. Cincinnati, UCF, Houston, Memphis and Cincinnati again.
In the rematch versus the Bearcats, the Pirates were down by six points heading into halftime. East Carolina made a valiant comeback effort but fell short in a 60-59 defeat. Vance Jackson led the team on 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Tristen Newton put up 14 points.
The Pirates are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS win and 5-2 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games. The under is 4-1 in East Carolina’s last five overall.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on East Carolina here. The Pirates have had a rough run over their last seven games, but they’ve been reasonably close in the majority of those outings. The last time these teams met up back on January 8, Temple secured a tight 78-75 win. East Carolina was up 40-34 at halftime in that one and shot 51 percent from the field overall; they simply had a bad second half. I like this one to be competitive as well, and I think the Pirates can get a revenge cover/win.
