The Detroit Titans and the Northern Kentucky Norse meet in college basketball action from the BB&T Arena on Saturday.
The Detroit Titans will look to bounce back from a 90-59 loss to Wright State last time out. Antoine Davis leads the Titans in scoring and assists with 24 PPG and 5.1 APG along with 3.7 RPG while Madut Akec has 14.1 PPG with a team-high 7.9 RPG to lead the Titans on the glass as the only other double-digit scorer for Detroit so far this season. As a team, Detroit is averaging 70.1 PPG on 42.7% shooting from the field, 37.1% from three and 77.6% from the foul line while allowing 69.4 PPG on 45.4% shooting from the floor and 34.8% from three this season.
The Northern Kentucky Norse will try to add to a six-game winning streak after an 87-78 win over Oakland last time out. Marques Warrick leads the Norse in scoring with 14.4 PPG while Trevon Faulkner has 12.2 PPG. Sam Vinson has 11.9 PPG with 4.3 RPG and a team-high 3.7 APG to lead the Norse in assists and round out the group of double-digit scorers for NKU this season while Adrian Nelson has a team-high 8.1 RPG to lead the Norse on the glass this season. As a team, Northern Kentucky is averaging 69.9 PPG on 40.8% shooting from the field, 33.5% from three and 68.3% from the foul line while allowing 67.2 PPG on 44% shooting from the field and 32.4% from three this season.
Detroit is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS loss while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. Northern Kentucky is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 Saturday games.
I get the case to be made for an underdog in most spots, but the Titans are struggling right now and there’s only so much that Antoine Davis can do for his team. Northern Kentucky wasn’t very good early on this season, but the Norse have really picked it up as of late and I just think this is a spot where we just take the better team playing better ball at home and that means siding with Northern Kentucky here.
