The Cleveland State Vikings and the Detroit Titans meet in college basketball action from the Credit Union 1 Arena on Thursday night.

The Cleveland State Vikings will look to build on a 79-67 road win over Green Bay last time out. D’Moi Hodge leads the Vikings in scoring with 15.9 PPG while Torrey Patton is right behind with 13.8 PPG and 6.3 RPG in addition to a team-high 3.5 APG to also lead the Vikings in assists and Tre Gomillion has 10.6 PPG with 4.7 RPG and 2.9 APG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Cleveland State so far this season. Deante Johnson also has a team-high 6.5 RPG as well this season. As a team, Cleveland State’s averaging 76.7 PPG on 48.1% shooting from the field, 34.3% from three and 66.5% from the foul line while allowing 69.5 PPG on 41.7% shooting from the field and 31.8% from three this season.

The Detroit Titans will try to build on back-to-back wins after an 80-75 win over Wright State last time out. Antoine Davis leads the Titans in scoring and assists with 23.5 PPG and 4.6 APG along with 3.5 RPG while Madut Akec has 13.5 PPG with a team-high 7.2 RPG to lead the Titans on the glass as the only other double-digit scorer for Detroit so far this season. As a team, Detroit is averaging 70.1 PPG on 43.2% shooting from the field, 36.9% from three and 77.5% from the foul line while allowing 69.3 PPG on 45.6% shooting from the floor and 34.6% from three this season.

Cleveland State is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 road games. Detroit is 10-0-1 ATS in their last 11 home games and 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 games following an ATS win while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record.

I get the case to be made for Detroit at home here as the Titans have been a covering machine on their own floor for some time now. However, all good things come to an end eventually, and the Vikings need a win here to take a pivotal step in potentially clinching the Horizon League regular-season title. It’s not going to be easy, but I expect the Vikings to end up with the win and cover here.
