Saint Louis has stayed pretty consistent this season; they’ve only got a couple of bad stretches so far. The Billikens are just 2-4 in their last six, though. They’ve lost to St. Bonaventure (twice), Davidson and Richmond in that span.
On Friday versus Richmond, the Billikens jumped out to a 43-33 lead by the break. Saint Louis couldn’t hold on after a 23-35 second half and lost 68-66, though. Tops in scoring was Francis Okoro with 23 points and 15 boards.
Over on the Rhode Island side, they were sitting at a solid 12-4 back on January 19. The Rams have only been able to win two games since then, however. Rhode Island lost to Dayton, George Washington and St. Bonaventure recently before a win over Duquesne.
In the Duquesne game on Saturday, the Rams hit a 42-23 advantage by the break. Rhode Island scored 28 more points in the second on the way to a 70-54 win. Ishmael El-Amin topped the team on his 21 points, seven boards and two steals.
The Rams are 2-5 ATS in their last seven at home and 6-2 ATS in their last eight Wednesday games. Rhode Island is 3-9 ATS in their last 12 overall.
Meanwhile, the Billikens are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up loss and the under is 5-2 in their last seven overall. The over is 4-0 in Saint Louis’ last four Wednesday games.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Saint Louis here, but probably not going near it. The Billikens haven’t exactly looked dominant over the last half-dozen games, but generally they’ve done pretty well in the conference matchups so far. Saint Louis has been at fewer than 67 points in three of their last six games though, so they’re going to want to get off to a fast start.
I can see Rhode Island hanging around for a while in this one, but if the Billikens offense is working I doubt the Rams will keep the pace.
