Liverpool and Manchester United are clashing at Anfield in round 30 of the English Premier League. Liverpool is still in 2nd place, they are only 1 point behind City, and they need a win here to stay close. United is fighting for the Champions League, but they are not doing so well right now.
Liverpool is probably the best team in the league so far this season, they are playing really well defensively, and their offense can score a ton of goals. In their last game, Liverpool has beaten City in the FA Cup semifinals, and they have also qualified for the Champions League semifinals where they will face Villarreal. As I’ve mentioned, Liverpool is in 2nd place in the EPL standings with 73 points, they have scored 79 goals while conceding only 22 goals. As far as their schedule goes, Liverpool has a few hard games left to play and playing in the Champions League, and the FA Cup in addition to the EPL certainly won’t make their job easy. Salah is still the leading goalscorer for Liverpool with 20 goals and 11 assists, while Jota has added 15 goals. The biggest problem for Liverpool right now is that Salah is not scoring goals, and the sooner he starts again, the easier it will be for Liverpool to compete.
After being without a win for 3 games in a row, United has finally beaten someone in the EPL, and the unfortunate soul was Norwich. United has had a 2-0 lead, but Norwich has tied the score and they were back in the game. With a goal in the second half, Ronaldo’s 3rd in this game, Manchester United has won this game 3-2. Speaking of Ronaldo, he will not be available for this game because of personal reasons, and in his current form, he will be missed. It’s hard to deny United has a lot of talent, but they also have a lot of defensive holes which need to be filled as soon as possible. With 15 scored goals so far, Ronaldo is the leading goalscorer for United, while Fernandes has added 9 goals and 6 assists. There are a few more injuries in United. With 54 points, United is now in 5th place, which is the Europa League spot, but they are only 3 points away from the Champions League spot. United still has to play against Chelsea and Arsenal until the end of the season, but with their inconsistencies, they can’t count on any points.
It’s hard not to take Liverpool here with everything that has been happening in United this season, and now they will be without Ronaldo. I think Liverpool is the better team here, and I see them getting a nice win at home.
