Borussia Dortmund is welcoming VfL Bochum to Signal Iduna Park in round 32 of the German Bundesliga. Borussia has lost to Bayern last week, but they are still in 2nd place in the standings, and they will stay there. Bochum is staying in Bundesliga, but that is all they will do, which is good enough for them this season.
Borussia has been terrible defensively this season, and their offense just wasn’t able to pick up the slack, even though they have a lot of offense. With 77 scored goals, Borussia is the second-best offensive team in the league, while their defense is among the bad ones with 46 conceded goals. Haaland is of course the leading goalscorer for Borussia with 18 scored goals, but he will be leaving the club at the end of this season. There are still a lot of injuries in Borussia, and I’m pretty sure they can’t wait for this season to be over. Overall, a disappointing season for Borussia, but they have qualified for the Champions League, and they can be happy about that.
Bochum was the newcomer to Bundesliga this season, and their only goal was to secure their spot for at least another season, which they accomplished pretty easily. Bochum is now in 13th place with 36 points, which is 8 points above the relegation zone, but they haven’t won any of their last 3 games. Bochum’s offense might have not produced much this season, only 30 goals, but their defense has done a solid job with 45 conceded goals. In their last 2 games, Bochum has conceded 5 goals, while they haven’t scored a single goal in their last 3 games in a row. Polter has scored 8 goals for Bochum so far this season. I think Bochum can be proud of themselves, they have accomplished their task, and then some. As far as the next season goes, Bochum will need to bring in some players, they will need to improve offensively, and maybe they can do better than they did this season.
Dortmund is the better team despite all the injuries, but Bochum has done well against the giants this season. I think this will be a fun game and both teams will come out to play, which is why I see goals, a lot of them.
