Barcelona is welcoming Villarreal to Camp Nou in round 38 of the Spanish LaLiga. Barcelona will end this season in 2nd place, they have been playing better and better, and they are already making moves for next season. Villarreal needs the win here to stay on that Conference League spot, but even the draw might be enough, even a loss might be good enough for Villarreal to qualify for the Conference League.
Barcelona hasn’t won any of their last 4 games while winning 3 of their last 4 games. With 73 points, Barcelona is now in 2nd place, they have scored 68 goals so far this season. Depay is the leading goalscorer for Barcelona with 12 goals, while Aubameyang added 11 goals. Dembele has been excellent in the second half of the season with 13 assists, while Alba added 10 assists. There are a bunch of injured players in Barcelona, but it doesn’t matter since they secured their Champions League spot for next season. Barcelona will be selling a lot of players in the offseason, but they are also working on signing some fantastic players, starting with Lewandowski. The financial situation is improving in Barcelona, but they are still far away from being in the black.
Villarreal hasn’t been playing well lately, but they have been really good in the Champions League, where they reached the semifinals. With only 1 win in their last 6 games, Villarreal’s form is not good, and they will need to be happy with playing in the Conference League next season, that is if they get there. Villarreal is now in 7th place with 56 points, they were great in the attacking end with 61 scored goals, while their defense has also been great with only 37 conceded goals in 37 games. Danjuma is Villarreal’s top goalscorer with 10 goals, while Parejo added 9 assists. The injuries have been a problem for Villarreal, but most of their players have recovered just in time to finish the season. Villarreal could be lucky, and they might not need anything here, but they better not risk it, that is if they want to play in Europe next season.
It’s been 14 years since Villarreal has beaten Barcelona on the road, but that could change. I think this will be a fun game with very little defense on either side, which is why I will stick to goals in this one.
