The Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors collide in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals at the Chase Center on Thursday night.

The Dallas Mavericks will be looking to stave off elimination once again after taking down the Warriors in a 119-109 win in Game 4 on Tuesday. Luka Doncic led the team with 30 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists, Dorian Finney-Smith added 23 points on nine of 13 shooting, Reggie Bullock scored 18 points while Jalen Brunson chipped in with 15 points and five assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 50 percent from the field and 20 of 43 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Warriors from the start and poured in 34 points in the second quarter to take a 15-point lead into halftime, before they exploded for 37 points in the third quarter to push the lead out to 29 points at one stage. 3-point shooting was obviously a major factor in the win as they drained 20 of 43 from the field, but it was really a team effort as Doncic finally got plenty of support from his role players like Bullock, Brunson and Kleber.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors took their eye off the prize for a second and quickly found themselves in deep trouble in Game 4 on Tuesday. Stephen Curry led the team in scoring with 20 points and eight assists, Jonathan Kuminga added 17 points and eight rebounds off the bench while Jordan Poole chipped in with 14 points and four assists off the bench. As a team, the Warriors shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the 3-point line but they got off to a sluggish start and were always fighting an uphill battle after falling behind by double-digits early. Andrew Wiggins scored just 13 points, Klay Thompson scored just 12 points while Kevon Looney scored just three points as they didn’t match the intensity of the Mavericks from the start and got burned as they trailed by as many as 29 points before finishing with a late flurry in the fourth quarter to keep the final scores respectable.

Looking at the betting trends, the Warriors are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games, 21-10 ATS in their last 31 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five Conference Finals games. The Warriors are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.

Head to head, the over is 14-6 in the last 20 meetings overall.

The Mavericks have already shown in these playoffs that they can come back from early deficits, and they showed plenty of fight to stave off elimination in a dominant win on Tuesday. The Warriors will be so annoyed with themselves because a slow start meant that they were always trailing in Game 4, so I’m expecting a much better start from them now that they have a chance to book their tickets to the NBA Finals at home. Doncic will surely have another big night where he fills the stat sheet, but this game comes down to how much help he gets from his teammates. The Mavericks did well to keep their season alive in the last outing, but I think it only serves as a wake-up call for the Warriors. This should be a close one, but I’m sticking with the veteran Warriors to get the job done at home.
