The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Baltimore Orioles meet in MLB action from Camden Yards on Saturday.
The Pittsburgh Pirates will look to rebound from a 1-0 loss at the hands of the Orioles in Friday’s matchup. Ke’Bryan Hayes has 87 hits and 17 doubles with a .244 batting average as well as 29 RBIs. Ben Gamel also has 23 RBIs while Michael Chavis also has 32 RBIs this season. Bryan Reynolds also has a team-high 15 home runs with 32 RBIs of his own and Jack Suwinski also has 14 homers this season. JT Brubaker will start here and is 2-9 with a 4.40 ERA and 105 strikeouts this season.
The Baltimore Orioles will try to build on yet another victory after Friday’s triumph last time out. Anthony Santander has a team-high 19 home runs and 59 RBIs. Austin Hays also has 94 hits with 24 doubles, 47 RBIs and a .258 batting average as well on the year. Cedric Mullins also has 108 hits with 25 doubles, 9 homers and 45 RBIs as well this season. Ryan Mountcastle also has 14 home runs and 52 RBIs as well this season.
Pittsburgh is 5-12 in their last 17 games overall and 15-38 in their last 53 interleague games while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record. Baltimore is 12-3 in their last 15 home games and 19-7 in their last 26 games overall while the under is 7-1-1 in their last 9 interleague home games.
I get the reasoning for backing either side here, but JT Brubaker just is not a pitcher I’m looking to back on the road if I’m being 100% honest as he’s had little to no luck away from PNC Park and the Pirates just look like a team that’s going to struggle their way to the finish line. Baltimore got rid of a couple of their pieces at the deadline, but they’re still competing and finding ways to win games and an above .500 season doesn’t seem so farfetched anymore for the O’s. Give me Baltimore in this one.
