Brentford and Manchester United face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at Gtech Community Stadium. When these two teams faced off in May it was Manchester United that secured the 3-0 victory. Christian Eriksen will be making his return to Gtech Community Stadium after he went to Manchester United from Brentford during the transfer window this offseason.
This is a Manchester United team that has a ton of pressure on them to win another title, but the first game has already put a big damper on those chances. Manchester United opened up the season against Brighton, and they looked like a team that still has a long ways to go. Brighton’s defense struggled and they gave up a goal in the 30th minute and another goal in the 39th minute. They put a ton of pressure on Brighton’s defense in the second half, but the only goal they ended up scoring was an own goal. Manchester United had 63 percent of the possession and five shots on goal. There are a ton of questions around Cristiano Ronaldo and it’s unclear what his status will be for this game.
On the other side of this matchup is Brentford and they were able to pick up a point in the first game of the season against Leicester City. The defense for Brentford didn’t look good in the first game against Leicester City and they fell behind 2-0. In the second half Brentford’s offense put some pressure on. Ivan Toney scored a goal in the 62nd minute and Josh Dasilva added a goal in the 86th minute to secure the 2-2 victory. Brentford only had three shots on goal.
Manchester United didn’t look great in the first game because of their offense, but I expect them to find a whole lot more success here. Brentford’s defense looked bad in the first game, and Manchester United will take advantage. I also expect Brentford to not have as much offensive success as they did in the last game, and Manchester United will get the job done here. Back Manchester United.
