Towson had a dramatic matchup in their opener this year, barely squeaking by Bucknell with a 14-13 overtime victory. QB Tyrell Pigrome posted 195 yards and a pick, while Devin Matthews did most of the heavy lifting on offense with his 26 carries for 112 yards and two touchdowns.

In the second game of the year versus Morgan State, the Tigers scored in every quarter on the way to a 29-21 victory. Pigrome managed 157 yards and three passing scores while also leading the rush with 124 yards. Darian Street finished with 48 yards and two TD catches as well.

Over on the West Virginia side, they played a close one versus Pitt in their first game as well. The Mountaineers eventually lost 38-31, however. QB JT Daniels posted 214 yards with two scores and a pick. CJ Donaldson managed seven carries for 125 yards and a score.

Matched up against Kansas for game two, the Mountaineers scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and had to go to overtime but eventually lost 55-42. Daniels finished with 359 yards and three scores. Donaldson posted 48 rush yards and two TDs as well.

PICK: I’m going to stay with West Virginia but the line is probably too thick to mess with. The Mountaineers have had a couple of tough results so far, but they’ve been in both games. In the Kansas matchup West Virginia posted 505 total yards, 6.5 yards per play and 27 first downs. That said, the Mountaineers also coughed up a couple of turnovers (Kansas had zero) and eight penalties.

As for Towson, they managed to pull away from Morgan State in the third quarter thanks to a couple of great individual offensive performances. The Tigers are going to need to get to work quickly if they want to keep pace in this one.
