The Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals do battle Sunday afternoon in week 2 NFL action from AT&T Stadium. Cincinnati is 0-1 after struggling in their opener versus Pittsburgh and losing in overtime. As for Dallas, they’re reeling from a rough loss as well, theirs coming against the Buccaneers. Cincinnati had a tough first half against the Steelers, going into the break down 17-6. The Bengals were able to fight back in the second and force overtime, but ultimately lost the rivalry game 23-20.
Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow posted 33-of-53 passing in his season debut for 338 yards, two scores and four interceptions. Joe Mixon led the rush with 82 yards on 27 carries, and Ja’Marr Chase put up 10 catches for 129 yards and a score.
Over on the Dallas side, they had quite a rough Week 1 as well. The Cowboys were down 12-3 at halftime and it didn’t get any better from there in a 19-3 defeat. Adding to the woes, Dallas QB Bak Prescott injured his hand late in the game and by all indications he will be out for a while.
Prescott finished with 134 yards and an interception on 14-of-29 passing while he was in there. Ezekiel Elliott had 52 yards off 10 carries, and Noah Brown put up 68 yards on five catches to lead the Dallas receivers.
The Bengals are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games and 8-1 ATS in the last nine overall. Cincinnati is 4-1 ATS in their last five on turf.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 5-0 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 5-1 ATS in the last six after an ATS loss. Dallas is 7-2 ATS in their last nine in Week 2.
PICK: I’m going to stay with the Bengals. Cincinnati blew the opener game thanks mainly to their five turnovers, but there are some positives to gather from the OT defeat. The Bengals posted 432 total yards with 32 first downs, and the defense held Pittsburgh to just 13 first downs and 4-of-15 on third-down tries. I like Cincinnati to get it together and play better in Week 2.
As for Dallas, they looked out of sorts for most of the game versus Tampa. The Cowboys are on a tough early-season run, and with Prescott banged up it’s going to be even harder to find wins over the next few weeks. I don’t think they’ll get one here either.
