The Colorado State Rams and Sacramento State Hornets clash Saturday in week 4 college football action from Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium. Sacramento State just finished up a game versus Northern Iowa. In that matchup the Hornets took a 16-point victory. As for Colorado State, they played Washington State in their last outing. The Rams ended up falling in a blowout in that one. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

Sacramento State opened up their 2022 season on September 3 versus Utah Tech (formerly Dixie State). The Hornets jumped out to a 35-10 half-time lead in that one, scoring in every quarter during a 56-33 victory. RB Cameron Skattebo posted 153 yards and a score on 10 carries in the win.

In game two versus Northern Iowa, the Hornets were only up 27-21 going into the final quarter but stood tall in an eventual 37-21 victory. Jake Duniway posted 199 yards and a score on 20-of-33 passing, and Skattebo logged 110 rush yards on 11 carries. Asher O’Hara put up three rush TDs as well.

Over on the Colorado State side, they got an unenviable draw against Michigan in their first matchup of the year. The Rams gave up double-digit points in each quarter during a 51-7 loss. In game two, the Rams lost again. This time it was a 34-19 finish versus Middle Tennessee.

Back on Saturday versus Washington State, the Rams were down 28-0 at the break and it didn’t get any better from there in a 38-7 blowout loss. QB Clay Millen notched 212 yards, one score and one INT, while Avery Morrow led the rush with 28 yards off eight carries.

PICK: I’m likely going to try Sacramento State in this one. Probably staying away from it, though. The Hornets closed out strong in their win over Northern Iowa over the weekend, finishing with 424 total yards, 25 first downs and zero turnovers. The team had a bad third quarter but rallied to finish off the victory.

As for Colorado State, they’ve played some tough teams so far this year but they’re not doing themselves any favors either. The Rams had two turnovers, 10 penalties and went just 2-of-13 on third downs against Washington State in their last game. Colorado State really has to tighten up before I can trust them on a cover.
