The Houston Astros and the New York Yankees meet in game three of the ALCS from Yankee Stadium on Saturday.
The Houston Astros will be looking to build on their 2-0 series lead after a 3-2 win over the Yankees in game two last time out. Alex Bregman went 2 for 4 with a three-run home run that would be the difference as it was all the scoring the Astros would do in the win. Yuli Gurriel had a pair of hits as well while Jeremy Pena, Yordan Alvarez, Kyle Tucker and Martin Maldonado all had base hits as well in the winning effort. Framber Valdez got the win with seven innings of four-hit shutout ball, striking out nine on the way to the win while Ryan Pressly closed the 9th for the save. Cristian Javier is expected to get the start for the Astros in this game.
The New York Yankees will hope to get back into the series and avoid the dreaded 0-3 series hole after their loss on Thursday. Anthony Rizzo and Gleyber Torres each had an RBI while Josh Donaldson added a double. Harrison Bader and Aaron Judge each had a base hit as well as the Yankees cranked out just four this as a team in the losing effort. Luis Severino took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits with six strikeouts over 5.1 innings of work. Gerrit Cole is expected to get the start for the Yankees in this game.
Houston is 44-15 in their last 59 games against a team with a winning record and 40-15 in their last 55 games overall while the under is 19-5-2 in their last 26 games against the AL East. New York is 56-22 in their last 78 home games and 0-4 in their last 4 games against the AL West while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 playoff home games.
I get the case to be made either way here, but I like the under in this spot. This just feels like a game where runs are going to be hard to come by and it feels like a kind of game where one hit decides it late after a lot of three up, three down innings. I see this as a first to three wins kind of game, so give me the under in this one.
