Arizona’s season began with a blowout loss to the Chiefs and an overtime win versus the Raiders. After a loss to the Rams and a win over the Panthers, the Cardinals fell to the Eagles and Seahawks in their next two outings.
In last Thursday’s game versus the Saints, Arizona was up 28-14 heading into the break. The Cardinals scored 14 more points in the second half for a 42-34 win. Quarterback Kyler Murray finished with 204 yards and a TD, while Eno Benjamin added 12 carries for 92 yards.
Over on the Vikings’ side, they beat the Packers in their first outing of the year, then fell to the Eagles in game two. Minnesota bounced back with wins over the Lions, Saints, Bears and Dolphins in their next four games.
In the October 16 matchup versus Miami, the Vikings had a shaky 10-3 lead going into the final quarter. Minnesota was ultimately able to hang on in a 24-16 win. QB Kirk Cousins finished with 175 yards and two scores, while Dalvin Cook led the rush with 77 yards and a TD.
The Cardinals are 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 in October and 20-8-2 ATS in their last 30 road games. Arizona is 1-4 ATS in the last five after a win.
Meanwhile, the Vikings are 2-6 ATS in the last eight in October and 1-4 ATS in their last five overall. Minnesota is 2-8 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
PICK: I’m probably going to stick with the Vikings. That said, Minnesota needs to come out of the bye week firing; the team wasn’t quite so electric versus the Dolphins in their last outing. The Vikings posted just 234 total yards and 11 first downs in that one; the saving grace was Miami’s three turnovers and 10 penalties.
As for Arizona, they get credit for toughing out a high-flying win over the Saints. The Cardinals gave up 494 total yards and 25 first downs along the way, however. All things considered this matchup should be a close one as well.
