UNC Asheville vs Western Carolina 11/26/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Western Carolina Catamounts and the UNC Asheville Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Kimmel Arena. Western Carolina is 4-2 on the year so far and coming off a win over Lindenwood. As for UNC Asheville, they’re 3-2 on the season. The Bulldogs lost to Georgia State in their last outing. Western Carolina lost their first two games of the season. The Catamounts fell to Georgia 68-55 and Maryland 71-51. It’s been a win streak since, however; WCU beat Brescia, McNeese State and Lamar in the next trio. 

Western Carolina kept their run going on Sunday versus Lindenwood, but it was a tight game. The Catamounts posted a 52-42 comeback run in the second and won 90-88 in overtime. Tre Jackson led the team with 19 points and six boards. 

Over on the UNC Asheville side, they managed a 3-0 run to start the season. The Bulldogs beat UCF, Brevard and Texas A&M-Commerce in that time. UNC Asheville took their first loss back on Saturday versus Eastern Kentucky. 

In the Sunday game versus Georgia State, UNC Asheville had a 30-29 advantage after one half. The Bulldogs were outscored 45-38 in the second and lost 74-68, however. Tajion Jones put up 21 points with six rebounds to lead the way. 

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Western Carolina. This should be an interesting matchup, though. The Catamounts have had a couple of reasonably close calls in their last pair of games, winning both by just nine combined points. Western Carolina has done a good job scoring lately with 88 or more points in four straight. UNC Asheville has 68 or more points in every game so far this year themselves, so this one could be a high-scoring shootout.
