The Kansas State Wildcats and the Butler Bulldogs meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Hinkle Fieldhouse. Kansas State is sitting pretty at 6-0 so far. The Wildcats bat LSU in their last game. As for Butler, they’re 4-3 and fresh off a loss to NC State. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Kansas State has gotten off to a nice start this year despite a couple of close calls. The Wildcats took out UTRGV in their opener, then California and UMKC. Game four was a win over Rhode Island, followed by a win over NEvada.

The Wildcats were in trouble down 41-33 at halftime in the LSU game last Wednesday. Kansas State roared back on a 28-18 run and got the comeback win 61-59. Markquis Nowell led the way, bagging 18 points with four rebounds and four assists.

Over on the Butler side, they kicked off their season with a win over New Orleans, then lost 68-62 to Penn State. The Bulldogs went 3-1 over the next four with a loss to Tennessee and wins over St. Francis PA, the Citadel and BYU.

Butler took on NC State last Friday in their most recent appearance. The Bulldogs scored just 22 points in the first half and limped to a 76-61 loss. Chuck Harris topped the team on 20 points, and Jayden Taylor added 18 points.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Kansas State here. The Wildcats had their closest matchup of the year versus LSU in their last outing but everything worked out. Kansas State ended up shooting 41.7 percent from the field with 30 rebounds and 13 assists. The Wildcats had 17 turnovers and weren’t great from 3-point range (4-of-15) but still got the win.

As for Butler, they performed fairly well statistically in the loss to NC State despite 14 turnovers and only four trips to the line. Butler hasn’t scored very well in any of their losses—they’ve got 62 or fewer points in all three. I don’t think the Bulldogs will hit 70 in this one either.
