The Canisius Golden Griffins and the Siena Saints meet Friday in college basketball action from Times Union Center. Canisius is currently 2-5 overall this year. The Griffins lost to Buffalo in their last game. As for Siena, they’re 4-3 on the season and coming off a win over Seton Hall. Canisius went 2-2 over their first four games this year, beating St. Bonaventure and Fredonia with losses to Youngstown State and Cleveland State otherwise. Game five was another loss, this time to Cornell.

On Sunday versus Buffalo, Canisius posted a blowout defeat. The Griffins were down 39-27 at the break and didn’t get any closer in an 86-66 loss. Jamir Moultrie was the only team player in double-figures with 17 points.

Over on the Siena side, they started out well with wins over Holy Cross and Albany. The Saints would lose their next pair to Army and Harvard before a win over Florida State. Game six was another loss to Ole Miss.

Back on Sunday versus Seton Hall, the Saints got back into the win column. Siena took a 35-27 lead into the second half and scored 25 more points from there in a 60-55 win. Javian McCollumn topped the team on 14 points with three assists.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Siena. The Saints are coming off a pretty solid win over Seton Hall in their last game, shooting 42.9 percent from the field with 36 rebounds. There are plenty of things to improve on from that performance (namely the 2-of-16 from 3-point range) however, as it was something of a flat offensive performance. Canisius has given up 165 points combined across their last two games, so the Saints should be able to post a solid points total in this one.
