Central Florida vs Wichita State 12/28/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Wichita State Shockers and the UCF Knights meet Wednesday in college basketball action from CFE Arena. Wichita State is sitting at 7-5 overall after a win over Texas Southern. Wichita State has posted wins over Central Arkansas, Richmond, Grand Canyon, Tarleton State, Longwood, MS Valley State and Texas Southern this year. The losses have come to Alcorn State, San Francisco, Missouri, Kansas State and Oklahoma State. 

Last Thursday versus Texas Southern, the Shockers took a 32-22 lead into halftime. Wichita State kept the pace from there and emerged with a win 65-56. Jaron Pierre posted 18 points, and Jaykwon Walton doubled on 10 points and 10 boards. 

Over on the UCF side, they’ve lost to UNC Asheville, Miami-FL and Missouri so far. The Knights’ wins have come versus Florida State, Western Illinois, Oklahoma State, Santa Clara, Evansville, Samford, Tarleton State, Ole Miss and Stetson. 

Matched up against Stetson last week, the Knights were ahead 38-32 by the break. UCF posted a 35-26 run in the second half for a 73-58 win. Both Darius Johnson (16 points; 10 assists) and Taylor Hendricks (16 points; 10 rebounds) doubled up. 

PICK: I’ll probably take a stab on UCF in this one. The Knights took care of a decent Stetson team in their last outing, shooting 48.3 percent from the floor with 37 rebounds and 20 assists. UCF has played great basketball so far this year, with their three losses coming by a combined seven points. As for Wichita State, they’ve had 65 points or fewer in three of their last five games, going 3-2 in that time. The Shockers are going to need to press hard in order to keep up in this game, and I don’t think they’ll quite make it to a cover.
