Nevada Wolf Pack
Nevada’s season kicked off on a 16-6 run across their first 22 games. The Wolf Pack have since gone 6-1 in their last seven, beating San Diego State, Air Force, New Mexico, Fresno State, San Jose State and Fresno State again in that time.
In the Friday rematch versus Fresno State, Nevada went into the locker room up 34-30. The Wolf Pack kept the pace from there on 26 points on the way to a 60-56 victory. Will Baker led the team with 13 points in 26 minutes of work.
Wyoming Cowboys
Over on the Cowboys’ side, they hit a rough 6-14 run to start out the year. Wyoming has won just two of their last eight games. The losses in that time came versus San Jose State, UNLV, Boise State, Air Force, Utah State and Colorado State.
Back on Friday versus Colorado State, Wyoming went into the second half with a 40-30 deficit. The Cowboys didn’t end up getting any closer in an 84-71 defeat. Hunter Maldonado was the leading team scorer on 23 points and six rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I might take a stab on Wyoming here. Probably staying away from it, though. The Cowboys are sitting on a three-game losing streak right now, but they’ve been scoring pretty well lately with 69 or more points in three of their last four outings. As for Nevada, they’re looking good in the win column these days. The Wolf Pack haven’t been all that impressive on the road though, with a one-point win over New Mexico, a loss to Utah State and a four-point victory versus Fresno State in their last three outings away from Lawlor Events Center. Nevada should still win this game, but if Wyoming plays well at home I think they’ll be able to cover.
