The Houston Astros and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet in MLB action from PNC Park on Tuesday night. Let’s dive into the odds, starting pitching matchup, history and make a prediction for this game.

Odds

Houston is a -175 road favorite while Pittsburgh is a +150 home underdog. The total for this game is set at 8 runs.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Cristian Javier will get the start for Houston and is 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA and 11 strikeouts this season. Mitch Keller will start for the Pirates and is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA and 15 strikeouts this season.

Matchup History

Houston’s 8-2 win back on Monday was their first win over the Pirates since 2019.

Trends

Houston is 53-19 in their last 72 games against a team with a winning record and 9-3 in their last 12 road games against a team with a winning record while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 game two matchups. Pittsburgh is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall and 7-3 in their last 10 home games while the over is 19-6-1 in their last 26 games against the AL West.

Pick

I’m rolling with the Astros here. I just don’t trust the Pirates after their showing in Monday’s opener, and Cristian Javier is a pitcher in this Astros rotation along with Framber Valdez that I’m really high on. Mitch Keller had a nice start to the year, but he struggled down the stretch last year and the Pirates didn’t give him a ton of run support to help the cause, and I don’t know if it’s going to be any different here. Give me the Astros.
